CHOC Sewing Day

Beads of Courage is a resilience based intervention program dedicated to help children cope with serious illness. Patients diagnosed with cancer or other serious illness are given a strand of beads with their name on it. For every medical treatment they complete, they are given a bead which represents their personal journey. The beads collected throughout the recovery process become a symbol of challenges faced and a life forever changed.

Bring your sewing machine, thread and fabric from your stash and spend a few hours or all day sewing for the patients at CHOC. Can't make it? You can also help in this worthwhile cause by donating quilt shop quality fabric, or bring in completed Beads of Courage Bags or pillowcases made at home.  Free patterns for the bags or pillowcases are available at the store or click on the links below.

Fabric Requirements:
Beads of Courage Bags - Two fat quarters in contrasting colors will make two bags or cut two contrasting 9"x12" cuts from your stash. CHOC is providing shoelaces to use as ties.   Click here to print instructions to make the bag.
Pillowcases - 3/4 yard of main color, 1/3 yard for cuff, 1/8 yard for trim
