Hand Applique Class (10:30am-4pm) ($30.00)
SUPPLY LIST:
THE PATTERN WILL BE PROVIDED IN CLASS.
The following list is for ALL students taking this class:
FABRIC: 4 - 12" squares or 5/8 yard and assorted scraps for applique pieces
THREADS: Match your fabrics. You want to match the applique' fabric, not the background. Any cotton thread 60wt. (like Mettler) or 50wt., 2 ply like Superior Masterpiece, DMC thread, Auriful, and/or Silk thread. My favorite is superior 100 wt. Kimono Silk. I use this thread almost exclusively.
Needles: Any straw/milliner, or applique' needle as long as its a size 10 or 11.
Pins: Bring what you have and we'll talk about choices. I use applique' pins. (Available at the shop)
Freezer Paper
Scissors: 4" embroidery scissors are a must! You will want a good quality, sharp pair for clipping points. Also bring paper scissors.
Marking Pencils: Frixon pens, A light and dark chalk pencil. I like the Bohin mechanical chalk pencil with white and graphite leads. But any fine point marking pencil will work.
Glue stick/pen, needle threader (ultra thin by Clover is a good one) Frixon Pin for tracing pattern on freezer paper.
Optional: Thimble, Iron and Ironing pad to use at your station, a Mylar plastic template sheet if you have one. Ott Lite is very helpful due to classroom lighting.
