Beg/On-going Quilt w/ Janet MON - FEB (10am-1pm) ($70)

This is a beginning / on-going quilt class for all levels ranging from introductory to very advanced. Janet will work with you in completing your projects as you continue to develop your quilting skills. Beginners will learn accurate rotary cutting, precise piecing and assembling your blocks, borders and binding to finish a wonderful quilt you will be proud of. Four sessions for three hours each.

Specialty Classes

OQB strives to offer a variety of classes along with the newest tips and techniques.  We offer lots of classes that range from very introductory level to advanced, and everything in between that includes quilting, garment sewing, bags and much more.   
If you have a class you'd like us to offer/teach, please let us know.   

Class Registration

OQB has a fabulous staff of teachers ready, willing and very qualified to provide instruction for all levels of quilters and sewers.  To help ensure the class you want to take is a "go", please sign-up early.  Waiting until the last few days before a class is to start risks cancellation and disappointment to both the teachers and students.  By registering early you will ensure your class of choice is a "go", have time to gather supplies and do pre-class work if necessary.  Teachers are notified of class cancellation 3 days prior to the class date.
As a reminder, class fees are fully refundable if class is cancelled by OQB if teachers "minimum attendance" is not met.

Work at your own pace and once you've mastered the basics, Diane will introduce you to something new!

Have you ever wanted to make perfect half square rectangles without doing paper piecing? The Quick Straight Ruler by Sew Kind of Wonderful is the way to do it. In this class, you’ll have your choice of making one of four patterns: “Tripping Out”, “Northern Lights”, “Solarium”, or “Compass”. We’ll work on the technique of creating half square rectangles and then move on to discuss the differences in making each of the patterns. Got scraps or stash that's overwhelming you? Get ready to make a BIG dent and use it up. This is a quick and fun way to use up lots of odds and ends. Even the UGLY stuff works.

For those of us who have a difficult time parting with that last little bit of a favorite fabrics or those who are in need of some help with the smaller blocks, this class may be just what you're looking for. The class is developed for 3", 4", 5" or 6" blocks. Although many of us will be using 1800's fabrics please do not let this limit you. You may choose any block project that you want. It may be the 5" blocks from a previous Saturday Sampler, the 6" blocks from Old Glory, the 4" blocks from Grant''s March or any 3" block.

Fuzzy Slipper night is held the first Saturday evening of each month. "Fuzzy" is so popular that advance sign-up & prepayment is strongly recommended. This is a "you choose" sewing and quilting evening that you work on your own projects. Sewing hours are generally 6 - 10 pm.

Paper piecing the Judy Niemeyer way is a wonderful technique that enables you to sew even the smallest pieces of fabric together with ease and amazing accuracy. Cat Wilson, a Certified Quiltworx instructor, will teach you Judy's paper piecing technique and share her secret tips to success. This on-going class is designed to introduce you to the paper piecing technique through more advanced techniques as you progress. Start any time and take as many classes as you would like to take. Join this on-going class anytime and receive expert hands-on instruction. Brand new students will learn one method for casting on and binding off, as well as the basic knit and purl stitches. Come on in and sew with friends! Open Sew days are designed for you to catch up on UFO's (Un-Finished Objects) and socialize with your sewing friends and maybe even meet a few new ones. Enjoy a day of sewing, quilting and/or embroidery with friends here at Orange Quilt Bee. Any skill level is welcome to attend Open Sew. There will NOT be a teacher in the classroom--all students will be working independently. Registration is recommended as space is limited.
