Scrap Busters 101 (10:30am-2:30pm) ($20)
Scrap Buster 101
January and February classes (months following are pending)
"Picnic Quilt"
Pattern is NOT a Bonnie Hunter pattern! (Pattern will be given in class.)
Picnic Quilt uses two different blocks: one based on a Rail Fence (Block A) and a second block based on a 25-patch (Block B). Quilt uses 2 ½” strips and can be made using a jelly roll or strips cut from stash. If using a jelly roll, I might recommend bringing an extra fat quarter or two to cut some extra strips.
Background fabric is also 2 ½” strips. If using one background fabric, I suggest roughly 3 ½ yards. Background strips can also be scrappy. Minimum length of a scrap strip needs to be 10 ½”.
Model is 7 x 7 = 49 blocks, i.e.: 24 Block A and 25 Block B. Blocks finish at 10”. Model used 1 background. Demo in class will be scrappy.
**** Optional: If you’d like to do some prep sewing prior to the class, sew a few pairs of a strip of color with a strip of neutral. Press seams towards the color. Use accurate ¼” seams.
This quilt is fast and fun. Feel free to go controlled or all scrappy. All genres work.
Supplies:
-- Sewing machine with neutral thread and basic supplies
-- Rotary cutter with sharp blade, cutting mat
-- Small iron, pressing pad if you have one
-- Ruler for cutting (strip cutter if you have one)
