“Plaid Pines” pattern (all students MUST have their own original pattern)
Tall Triangle Ruler (available at OQB)
Rotary Cutter & Small Mat
2-1/2” x 12-1/2” Ruler
12-1/2” Square Ruler
Sewing machine that you know how to operate with ¼” foot
Basic sewing supplies – thread, pins, scissors, chocolate, etc.
These fabric requirements and cutting are for the shop sample that utilizes one single fabric
for the background.
If you want to make Plaid Pines as pattern cover with four different background fabrics, please follow the
fabric requirements and cutting instructions as stated in the pattern.
Fabric Requirements for SHOP Sample
4-1/2 yards background fabric
1 Layer cake OR thirty-two (32) 10” colored squares (trees)
¼ yard fabric for tree trunks
¼ yard 2 nd fabric for tree trunks
¼ yard 3 rd fabric for tree trunks
5/8 yard binding fabric
Pre-class cutting for SHOP Sample
Background (cut selvage to selvage)
Eight (8) 6” strips
Sub-cut into 32 6” x 9-3/4” rectangles (will yield 4 per strip)
Eight (8) 4-3/4 strips
Sub-cut into 64 4-3/4” squares (will yield 5 squares per strip)
Eight (8) 4-1/2” strips
Sub-cut into 64 4-1/2” squares (will yield 9 squares per strip)
Ten (10) 3” strips
Sub-cut into 128 3” squares (will yield 13 squares per strip)
Bring remainder of background fabric to class
Tree Trunks (cut selvage to selvage)
Two (2) 4-1/2” strips
Two (2) 3” strips
Two (2) 3” strips
Bring all of the rest of your fabrics to class.
