Birdy Blockstorer

Birdy Blockstorer Supply List

I make this project a little different than the pattern. So here are the items you will need to make one like mine.
Birdy Blockstorer pattern
20” X WOF for outside
20” XWOF for lining
20” X 45” Batting
12” X WOF print for under wool appliqué and under button
1/8 yard print fabric for handles
1” X 16” fabric for tie closure
2” X 1 1/2” fabric for ends of tie closure
20” fabric for batting
1 yard of 100% cotton batting for pages
One 1” button
WOOL
10” square of cream wool for appliqué background
Scraps of pieces of wool to create around the bird
6” piece of wool to make your bird
Small piece for wing
Pearl cotton or embroidery floss to match appliqué pieces
Fusible for applying wool pieces, I use trans web sold at the Quilt Bee
Sharp scissors, rotary cutter, sewing machine, thread for machine!
I used an old cutting mat to make mine sturdy. You need 2 (17”X17”) If you don’t have that you can go to Home Depo for sturdy plastic or thin pressed board.
If that isn’t doable then you can use the stiffener the pattern calls for. Will turn out  great too!
You will put a piece of batting on the wrong side of outside fabric, quilt that piece.
Then put batting on the back of the lining fabric, quilt that. You will have two separate pieces of quilted fabric that measures 20” X WOF. Now you will cut these pieces to measure 18”X 36”.   Now ready to prepare your appliqué!
Finished size is 18” X 18”
